(1) Try to deal with
any negative feelings you might have about your asthma and remember, you
are not alone!
(2) Not everyone can deal with their feelings in the same way; use what
works best for you. Some examples which might help are given in the following
tips!
(3) If you have any questions or concerns about your asthma, write them
down so that you remember to discuss them with you doctor at the next visit.
(4) If your surgery runs an asthma clinic, ask if you can attend.
(5) Find out if there is an asthma society in your area. This can give you
the opportunity to meet other people with asthma, keep up to date with information,
or even participate in fund raising events for research into asthma.
(6) Get to know your asthma; this can help you take control of your
life and dispel negative feelings. Monitoring your condition at home is
an excellent way of doing this as outlined in Getting
to Know Your Asthma.
(7) If your asthma is having a major impact on your life, do not just accept
this unless all the avenues have been explored to make sure you are as well
as you can be. |
